Call for Contributers: „Integration Discourses in the Media“
The Global Media Journal is an open-access academic refereed online publication in various national or regional editions around the globe.

The German Edition (GMJ-DE) is dedicated to research and analyses on inter- and transnational as well as inter- and transcultural communication processes.

The 2011 Interpersonal Communication and Social Interaction (ICSI) Section Conference of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) will be hosted by the School of Communication, University of Ulster.  It will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from 8-9 Sept 2011.
 

The Shpilman Institute for Photography (The SIP) announces open calls for general research on photography and for research on philosophy and photography.  
 
Grants are based on proposals for research leading to the completion within the grant period of a written document, whether an essay or extended research paper. Grants for individuals and group research will range from US $5,000 up to $15,000. All submissions and papers for both the calls must be in English. Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2011.

The research centre IBBT-SMIT at the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) offers a full time PhD position in the field of Social Sciences, more in particular of Media and Communication Studies. The vacancy is open for a research position of 4 years, in order to realize a PhD on the use of social media and social networks sites, the reconfiguration of privacy practices and the social and technological consequences thereof. The position starts in January 2011, and is supervised by Prof. Jo Pierson.
 

 The aim of this PhD Symposium is to investigate the multiple ways in which information and communication technologies are transforming the construction of personal and collective identity. Encompassing print, electronic and digital media, it examines how technologies participate in the reflexive construction of the individual self as well as in the construction of boundaries of group inclusion and exclusion.

  
Within the IBBT research group MICT (Media & ICT), affiliated to the Department of  Communication Sciences of Ghent University, there are several vacancies for full-time researchers in the context of interdisciplinary research projects on new media and ICT.
