Summer School Grants
In co-operation with European Communication Research and Education Association (http://www.ecrea.eu), the University of Tartu, the Institute of Journalism and Communication (http://www.jrnl.ut.ee) and a consortium of 21 universities: (Amsterdam (UvA), Ankara University, Barcelona (Universidad Autonoma), Bergen, Berlin (Universitet de Künste) (tbc), Bremen, Brussel (VUB), Budapest (Eötvös Loránd), Erfurt, Helsinki, Jönköping, Kaunas (Vytauto Didzio), Ljubljana, Lund, Milan (Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore), Prague (Charles University), Roskilde, The Danish National Research School for Media, Communication and Journalism (tbc), Stendhal Grenoble 3, Stirling, Tampere, and Westminster), the European Media and Communication Doctoral Summer School has agreed to provide in total 3 Summer School Grants - 1 for individual student from non-consortium university and 2 for consortium members.
Individual Grant is awarded to individual student, and cover the Summer School travel, accommodation and registration costs.
Consortium member grants are awarded to the institution in order to support their students travel, registration and accommodation costs, but are dependent on the participation of one other student from the same institution as the applicant, for whom the the regular fee is paid.
The application has to be sent to the Summer School Coordinator, by 14th of April, 2008
Rules of eligibility for Individual Grant:
1. The student has already filled out all application documents before the deadline of the 14th of April and s/he will submit the additional documents specified in the call for papers by 16th of June.
2. The student has sent in a 2 paragraph application letter explaining why grant should be awarded to him/her.
3. The student has sent in a letter of recommendation (max one a4) from the supervisor.
4. The student has to have active membership in ECREA either through individual or institutional membership scheme.
5. If the grant has been approved, the student will provide all necessary travel documents (boarding passes, invoices, and proof of payments) before 15th of August. If the document are sent in late, the grant can be withdrawn.
Rules for eligibility for Consortium Member Grants:
1. The institution applying for this grant has to be part of summer school consortium (listed above)
1. This Grant is conditional on the Summer School participation of one other student from the same institution.
2. Both students have already filled out all application documents before the deadline of the 14th of April and they will both submit the additional documents specified in the call for papers by 16st of June.
3. The coordinator of the consortium membership has sent one a4 page letter of recommendation, why students from this institution should be supported.
4. The coordinating lecturer (professor) of the Summer School provides confirmation that the other student’s travel money will be provided for by the university/institution.
5. After approval, the applicant provides all necessary travel documents (boarding passes, invoices, and proof of payments) before 15th of August. If the document are sent in late, the grant can be withdrawn
