Hello,
My name is Esengül Ayyıldız. I am pleased to join in YECREA as Turkey Country Representative to support the activities of young Turkish communication scholars of being more collaborative in the network and also to be helpful to all YECREA members in their needs of research and networking related to Turkish scholars in the field.
Briefly about me; I have completed my PhD thesis and got PhD from Marmara University, Social Science Institute, Communication Science Department in 2009. My thesis is an evaluation of women movement in Turkey within the framework of Morçatı, Kamer, Uçansüpürge and Kagider organizations with a title of "Social Movements in Association with Social Communication”. These women activist groups were selected according to their social classes, regions where they active in, social capital that they have, purposes which are they active for, their way of activism and ideological background etc. Study was based on the following question; "do social movements have an effect on social change by using communication?”
I have worked for Umut Foundation (the NGO who active in Turkey and their main working area is individual disarmament and violence) as Coordinator and realized many projects related with media and violence such as “Individual Disarmament and Violence News in Turkey Local Media Trainings". I have taught the course which is titled "New Social Movements and Media" at Anadolu University (Eskişehir) between 2008-2011 and "NGOs and Media" at Marmara University (İstanbul) in 2011 (spring fall).  Additionally, I am a member of ILAD (Communication Research Association in Turkey) that will host the ECC 2012 in collaboration with ECREA in Istanbul.
I would love to get in contact with you and share research ideas, teaching practices and experiences. Please feel free to contact me at esengul.ayyildiz@gmail.com and http://www.facebook.com/esengulayyildiz
