ECREA's ECC12 in Istanbul from 24 to 27 October 2012

We are happy to announce that the ECREA’S Fourth European Communication Conference (ECC12), themed 'Social Media and Global Voices', will take place in Istanbul from 24-27 October 2012.

The conference, which will be organized by the Turkish Communication Research Association (ILAD) and will take place at Istanbul Bilgi University, is the most important event of ECREA association and a crucial event for the Young Scholar’s Network YECREA.

Preparations are proceeding swiftly to prepare another exciting event, following the successes of the three previous conferences held in Amsterdam (2005), Barcelona (2008) and Hamburg (2010).

ECC12 aims to open up a vibrant discussion in the European academic scene in the areas of: new media, peace and conflict journalism, network society, convergence culture, cultural spaces of human interaction, social media use and access, media as a platform for democracy, legislative restrictions of the old and new media, limits of artistic expressions, issues of multiculturalism, ubiquity of the internet and digital divide, local media as community builder, diasporic media, transnational media, and the political economy of the media.

At the conference, YECREA will organize a number of important events, including a young scholar’s workshop that tackles issues with which young scholars are faced; a business meeting, at which the future of the network is discussed and a new YECREA management team is elected; and an YECREA social event.

Like in previous years, young scholars will benefit from a reduced conference fee. Details will be announced in due course.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Istanbul on 24-27 October 2012!
