The University of Amsterdam is still accepting applications for the summer programme:

Popular Culture and the City:
The Case of Amsterdam

This two-week programme will serve as an intensive course for upper class undergraduate
and masters students who have an interest in media, cultural and urban studies.  Be on
the cutting edge and study in Amsterdam!  It is a city of contrast and has a great deal
to offer students.

Dates: June 27 ­ July 10, 2010

Objectives
-    Examine theories and concepts on media, entertainment and popular culture in an
urban setting and explain the different research methods used in media, cultural and
urban studies

-    Discuss how city life is represented in popular culture and how popular culture
moulds and forms urban life

-    Describe the different subcultures among urban youth and take a closer look at the
creative industry and the music scene

Deadline for Applications

May 15, 2010

(If you are unable to submit all documents on time, you must submit at the very least
the standard application and commitment statement by May 15th.)

Scholarships: There are a few partial scholarships available for the program, so please
indicate on your application whether or not you are interested in a scholarship.
