unpaid position: Book reviews editor at Cultural Trends

Cultural Trends is looking for a book reviews editor. The post, which is unpaid,
involves identifying and procuring books for review, commissioning and editing reviews.
The books reviews complement Cultural Trends' policy reviews, which are edited by Dr
Ian Baxter.

The successful applicant will need to be a self-starter, capable of working
independently, with administrative and managerial experience.

Cultural Trends’ Book Review Editor, by 1 May 2010, saying why you are interested in
this post  and how you would go about it, attaching a CV and copies of your latest
publications.

Cultural Trends is based on the proposition that cultural policy should be informed by
evidence­based analyses. It aims to:
•       stimulate  analysis and understanding of the arts and wider ccultural sector
based on relevant and reliable evidence;
•       identify clear trends in cultural provision, funding;
•       consider  participation, including the differences between diifferent social
groups and  the impact of culture on  individuals and society, as well as how such
assessments are made and  used;
•       provide  a critique of those data upon which arts and wider ccultural policy may
be based, implemented, evaluated and developed and encourage improvements in the 
coverage, timeliness and accessibility of statistical  information on the arts and wider
cultural sector; and
•       examine  the soundness of measures of the performance of goveernment and public
sector  bodies in the arts and wider cultural sector.
