New Executive Board YECREA confirmed in October 2009
The Young Scholars have a new executive team.
On 3 October, the young scholars of ECREA have a new executive team:
- Chair: Benjamin de Cleen, Vrije Universiteit Brussel
- Vice-chair (and YECREA representative in the ECREA Board): Alenka Jelen, University of Central Lancashire
- Vice-chair: Joanna Redden, Goldsmiths, University of London
The change in the executive board is due to the fact that YECREA chair Tamara Witschge was appointed to a lecture position at the University of Cardiff and has resigned as chair of the Young Scholars’ network. Tamara has been involved in YECREA since its foundation (with Pille Pruulmann-Vengerfeldt and Liina Puustinen) and has played a very active role in the development of the network.
Following Tamara's departure, Benjamin De Cleen moves to the chair position and remains responsible for the relationship with the sections. Joanna Redden remains vice-chair, responsible for the country representatives and on the website. Alenka Jelen joins the YECREA board as vice-chair. Alenka will focus on the YECREA website and will be YECREA’s representative in the ECREA board.
The new board would like to thank Tamara for all her work for the young scholars’ network and for her willingness to support the new board with her experience.

ABOUT YECREA
The objective of the Young Scholars Network of the European Communication Research and Education Association (YECREA) is to give a voice and provide a network within ECREA specifically for the young generation of European Media and Communication scholars. YECREA provides a forum for the segment within ECREA that involves (but is not limited to) doctoral students and post doctoral researchers to inform, assist, share ideas, get peer support and peer-review.
A special emphasis is put on PhD-programme support. YECREA aims to provide a bridge between the young generation and the advanced members of ECREA, to stimulate both communication and collaboration between the two.
YECREA network operates through interaction in a community portal on the web and a mailing list. Also, face-to-face meetings such as annual summer school, workshops and conferences are organised as a part of ECREA and in cooperation with its members.
