As interest in the subject of diaspora and diasporic formations
continues to gather pace volumes of research and publications have
emerged. This has increased awareness in this subject and is helping to
support its position as a valid and viable subject of investigation.
Recently attention has turned to exploring issues around the media of
diaspora to understand the processes of diasporic formations and the
numerous ways communities interact across national and global spaces.

We seek papers from academics, practitioners/ producers, and other
interested parties to explore and debate the prospects of a journalism
of diaspora along the following themes

*       Emerging practices that may be described as 'diaspora journalism'
*       Distinguishing the form and substance of this type of journalism.
*       Conceptualise the notion of a journalism of diaspora
*       Is there, and should there be such a thing as diaspora journalism
*       The form and distinguishing features of diaspora journalism
*       Examination of case studies of existing/emerging practices
*       Issues around the ethics, production and audiences of diaspora journalism
*       What goes on inside the multitude of media outlets serving diaspora communities?
*       The objectives and motives that drive those who work in, set-up,
or produce media that serving these communities
*       Are there discernible thematic patterns emerging from the content of diaspora media?
*       Challenges faced by workers and proprietors in this area of media
*       How do the issues and subject matters of diaspora journalism
intersect with the culture and polity of their host country and the
homeland?
