Cultural identity in local, national and global perspectives

Short abstract of the presentation:
The issue of cultural identity in local, national and global perspectives will be at issue. Students will be divided into smaller groups and discuss research projects within this area. They are supposed to identify variables of interests, weakness in variables that might occur and the general interest of studies in this tradition.

Short biography:
Areas of expertise: Journalism, media literacy, intercultural communication. Dr. Ebba Sundin is senior lecturer in Media and Communication Sciences at the School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University, Sweden. She is also the Director of Master Studies at the School of Education and Communication. Her research interests include media and children with a special focus on journalism. The role of local media in a global communication landscape is one of her strong focuses in her research. It raises questions of identity, democracy and awareness among the media users. She has studied children and newspaper reading in Sweden and Canada. One of her ongoing projects has its focus on media’s role among young people in the self-regulated territories in the Nordic Region. She is also involved in an international research project about Internet appropriation among university students in Canada, Sweden, France and Mexico.
