Hey there! My name is Christian Schwarzenegger and I am a research assistant and Phd student at the Institute of Language and Communication Studies at RWTH Aachen University. Prior to starting my Phd I earned my Master's degree in Communications at the University of Vienna where I was project assistant and lecturer and am still giving courses on communication research in a historical perspective. I specialize on the history of everyday culture, the history of the banal and the relevance of popular culture for social and cultural memory.

Nostalgias: Visualising Longing is an opportunity for academics, artists and commentators to discuss the role of nostalgia in contemporary art practices. It will examine, analyse and interpret the complexities of nostalgia and nostalgic sensibilities within art and media based practices; photography, film, television, music, archives, consumer culture, psychology and social media.
